MY HORNE

Seasons of Service

This is how we serve.

As a core value at HORNE, Service is not only a top priority for our clients, but also for our communities. Seasons of Service is a yearlong initiative that has the following benefits:

  • Each team member has 8 hours each calendar year to use out of the office to serve in your community.
  • These hours can be used all at once or incrementally throughout the year.
  • If serving a full 8 hour day, you may submit lunch reimbursement of up to $12 via NetSuite. This option may only be used once.
  • Your service can be completed with an eligible organization or charity of your choosing.

How to participate in Seasons of Service:

  • Identify a service project.
    • Each team member has 8 hours each calendar year to use out of the office to serve in your community. These hours can be used all at once or incrementally throughout the year.
    • Your service can be completed with an eligible organization or charity of your choosing. If you have a question on whether your service project qualifies, please email [email protected].
    • We do ask that no fundraisers are organized as a service project. You can serve at a fundraiser being organized by a charity or organization, but we cannot create fundraisers as service projects.
    • If your team/office/project would like to serve as a group, please email [email protected]. We just have a few extra asks if serving as a group.
    • We ask that all team members wear their Seasons of Service t-shirt to their service project. If you do not already have one, please click here to order your shirt.
  • Day of Your Service Project:
    • Remember to let your team and clients know you’ll be out at a service project.
    • You may use the following message as your out of office reply:
“Thank you for your email. I am out of the office today participating in a community service project as part of HORNE’s Seasons of Service. I will have limited access to email and phone, but will work to return messages as soon as I get back. For immediate assistance, please contact…..”
    • Print out the Proof of Service form to have signed.
    • Mileage to Seasons of Service projects is not eligible for reimbursement.
    • We want to showcase all the service being done for our communities, so please take pictures throughout your service time. Instructions for submitting those are below, including a group photo.
  • After Your Service Project:
    • If serving as a group, the group leader will submit the service project using the link to “Submit Your Service Project.” You do not need to complete the Proof of Service form if you are serving as a group.
    • If serving as an individual, submit your service project using the link to Submit Your Service Project. Here you will upload your signed Proof of Service form.
    • For all projects, once the Smartsheet form is completed, you’ll receive an email to upload any pictures taken during your project.
    • Finally, once you have completed the above steps, remember to enter your time into Practice Engine. You can find the Seasons of Service time code where you normally go to code PTO.  Travel time to your service project does not count as time served.
